LISBON STREETS

Photographs taken over a day and half wandering round the wonderful city of Lisbon

It rained during the first couple of hours of the day. Many of Lisbon’s streets and pavements are constructed with cobblestones (or pave if you live in Belgium) so when wet can be slippery. I figured out that those cobblestones that were well worn by years of heels were the ones to avoid in wet weather.

I like the small kiosk type shops; there is no space to linger. You are in and out in a matter of seconds. On the other hand I like to linger over the beautiful shop fronts in the city.

Life is very much on the street in Lisbon

Wonderful resident who shouted out about how proud she was to live in the Alfama district. The plastic ‘curtain’ is not a sun shield but to protect her clean washing from pigeons.

Just sitting down in a cafe with a coffee watching the world go by can be so satisfying.

What better way to end a day: dancing in the street
